People need justification for their strange regional traditions that they like, so they just label them as "Islamic". The media and general public, due to their biasment and lack of understanding of true teachings of Islam, criticise Islam for such things. Sometimes you might look at these tradtions and feel uncomfortable, awkward or even question how these traditions are morally acceptable in society!
